Our brand-new office and lab spaces are located at XISTA science park and IST Austria in Klosterneuburg at the outskirts of Vienna/Austria in the green nature setting of the Wienerwald.
We are looking for a lab associate to join our young collaborative team who is enthusiastic about contributing to research that seeks to improve the lives of patients with autism, epilepsy, and psychiatric diseases. This role would also include general lab management.
Description
We are seeking a motivated research associate as both an independent and highly collaborative supporter for our research and lab activities. You have an applied-science mindset in order to help our efforts to develop and optimize the use of hiPSC-derived brain cells from patients with neurodevelopmental disorders for diagnostics and drug discovery.
You will be supporting the generation and preparation of hiPSC-derived brain cells for our drug discovery efforts, carry out routine lab protocols as well as lab organization.
Who You Are
· A B.Sc./M.Sc. in life science or related field (e.g., biology, neuroscience, molecular biology, biotechnology or stem cell biology)
· Extensive experience with cell culture specifically with human stem cells. Experience in drug screening is a plus.
· Experience with molecular biology methods, such as PCR, DNA/RNA extraction and quantification, gel electrophoresis is required. CRISPR is a valued addition.
· Effective oral and written communication skills with good command of English is required.
· Self-organized and a flexible team player with a hands-on approach.
· Critical mindset with the ability to identify problems and analytical thinking in order to solve them.
· Reliable with a strong organizational talent to manage project and lab operations.
· Enthusiastic about translating basic research into applicable technology to improve the lives of patients.
